For this series, we dive deep into one of our favorite 2D game, Hollow Knight! An enormous cast of cute and creepy characters all brought to life with traditional 2D frame-by-frame animation. There’s a wealth of interesting things about the setting and Howling Cliffs is one of the only places to even allude to the world outside of Hollownest. This is my first post here, I usually post on Reddit or on UE4’s Dev group on Facebook but I thought some of you might not be on those platforms so here we go: we just started a new series on our young channel where we analyze and recreate game mechanics in UE4. The City of Tears likely flows into an unseen spring somewhere even below the Abyss, as the City would flood of the water there remained static, so it either must be going somewhere else naturally or they had a pump installed (which might be what we see part of in the Royal Waterways). Given that evidence, I think it’s safe to say that the source is a surface lake or stream somewhere that has breached underground to form a spring. Trouble is, Dirtmouth is on the surface and it is never seen raining there, and if you reach The Crown above Crystal Peak, it isn’t raining anywhere there, either, and Crystal Peak is directly above the Blue Lake. Usually underground lakes are formed from rainwater that seeps into the cracks of the rock, so that could be a possible source. r/demonssouls /r/darksouls /r/darksouls2 /r/darksouls3 /r/bloodborne /r/saltandsanctuary /r/castlevania /r/metroidĪh, I probably misread it when I first entered the City of Tears.
